First Time AgriScot Outing for Latest JCB Loadall Telehandlers

Farmers and contractors visiting one of Scotland’s leading agricultural events can inspect the latest JCB Loadall telescopic handlers at close quarters for the first time.

An example of the new Series III range will be exhibited by dealer Scot JCB in the Highland Hall at AgriScot on the Ingliston Showground near Edinburgh on Wednesday, November 20.

John Smith, Managing Director, JCB Agriculture, said: “The new Loadall Series III handlers are the culmination of a succession of significant product upgrades over the past six years that have reinforced JCB’s technology, performance and fuel-efficiency lead in the telescopic handler market.

“The new Command Plus cab adds superior interior space, noise levels, climate control and all-round visibility, with increased lift capacity and other new features adding to the machines’ productivity and capabilities.”

Steven Hunter, Southern Regional Manager, Scot JCB confirms that the new-generation Loadall Series III has attracted “fantastic interest”.

He said: “AgriScot is a good event for us, not least because it’s a serious business event that attracts very professional farmers and contractors. We’re expecting the new Loadall to get a lot of attention amongst the other JCB agricultural machines we’ll have on show.”

Entry to AgriScot is free but by registering online beforehand visitors will enjoy Scot JCB’s ‘Fastrac’ entry to the event, avoiding the queue to register on the day.

The Series III Loadall handlers feature an all-new cab alongside a number of welcome upgrades that include a 100-200kg increase in lift capacity and the introduction of optional air trailer braking, and also Sway Control hydraulic levelling via the front axle on the 542-70 and 536-95.

But the new Command Plus cab is the feature that attracts most attention on the new machines, not least because of its remarkable 50% reduction in noise level that results from the fully clad interior and increased sound-deadening measures.

An all-new control and instrumentation layout sees the Loadall adopt chunky button clusters for various functions that will be familiar to operators of JCB wheeled loaders and Fastrac tractors, and the traditional dash panel has been replaced by a ‘floating’ display like a tablet computer attached to the windscreen.

The main advantage of these changes is that there is now very little to interrupt the operator’s view to the front wheels and beyond – and that principle is maintained as the curved windscreen sweeps up and over the operator’s head with no roof cross-member to get in the way.

With flat bars on the internally-mounted ROPS/FOPS frame suitably angled, the design gives a 14% increase in visibility upwards to a raised bucket, fork or bale grab, which in practical terms means the operator no longer has to lean forward to see clearly, so loads can be placed or retrieved accurately while sitting back comfortably in the suspension seat.

In addition, an adjustable push-away steering column with working position memory makes it easier to enter and step out of the cab, and there is a new air conditioning system – with an auto climate control option – with 10% increased airflow and optimised distribution that will demist or defrost the windows a whole lot faster than before.

As for convenience, a lift-out bin slotted in behind the driver’s seat is among new features that provide 60% more dedicated storage space for all the things that need to be kept close to hand during a busy working day.

All these improvements result from the largest ever end-user consultation undertaken to determine the preferences and requirements of agricultural telescopic handler operators, as well as an ergonomics study that defined the optimum seating position and control layout for the majority of operators.
